A million years later, I post something. I *did* warn you that I sucked at this. I wasn't kidding.
I'm posting because I actually did something! I bought an embroidery machine! I'm so in love with it! I've been practicing non-stop for over a week now. I think I have the hang of it... mostly
Many of you know I spent many years employed at an animal shelter. After some pretty severe injuries, I had to stop working there. I may not work there, but my heart will always be with the animals. Also, Little Bee still works there. Of course, I am all about getting them adopted. The shelter is no kill, so they are perpetually overflowing. I have been embroidering bandannas to help them get adopted. Little Bee is going to bring home some baby blankets. I'm going to sew them up and make them pretty to help with adoptions.
So, there is that. Also in my shop, there are new bookmarks and earrings. There a lot of things still there, and they need new homes! My craft room is full! I've lowered prices on some items. So, for the sake of humanity, buy something!! haha
Other news, I got yet another chicken. My neighbor knocked on my door a couple days ago. I open it, and she's got a chicken in her hand and is telling me (in Spanish) that it's eating her flowers in her yard. Thankfully, this barrio girl can understand enough Spanish to understand what she's saying. I tell her, "It's not mine, but I will take her". My neighbor is very happy, and hands me the bird. WTF am I supposed to do with this ghetto ass chicken? She's skinny, underfed and screaming her damn head off. Neighbor was hanging her by her legs (doesn't hurt her). I flipped her upside and she starts screaming bloody murder! CRAP! I covered her eyes, and thankfully, she shut up. With no better idea, I threw her out the back window into our chicken run. (F*ck it, she seems healthy, just hungry) I toss some scratch out and NO ONE cares! FOR REAL???? I have never had an easier integration! The only one who had a problem was Jabba and she got over it pretty quick. (Jabba was the baby I hatched last year. I had to get rid of her brother Ike, because he was an a$$hole) Annywho, she's doing fine. Being a ghetto bird, she's good with whatever I feed them. chips, soaked dog food, scratch, pasta, etc... She fit right in. I'm happy with that. Our foster chicken from the shelter has been adopted by us. I'm going to try to incorporate her with the little flock. (Where the rooster lives) She's in a smallish cage next to their coop. They seem to get along ok, but she's still a baby. I don't want to play mix and match and get her butt kicked.
Ok, if you forgot, I did once threaten to get drunk and post about my chickens. If you hate this, don't read it. If you read it and hate it. Sorry, deal with it. :) Type at you soon! (or eventually!)
