What the hell is that?

One of my favorite sketches from Saturday Night Live is Steve Martin and Bill Murray looking off into the distance saying '"What the hell is that?" from 1979. I find it completely hilarious.

I am often reminded of this sketch when Becky (Little Bee) comes home and sees the projects I've been working on. Sometimes the look on her face is very similar to Steve Martin's. However, she has never asked me to take her picture with any of these "deals". I can't imagine why! (Actually, yeah I can) Several months ago while researching projects (read: wasting time) on Pinterest, I found a neat little tutorial on making 'shrinkies' out of chip bags in the oven. Cool! I pinned it, and forgot it. Like most of the things I pin.

One day, I remembered it and just happened to have a couple of chip bags ready to be placed in the oven. I preheated to oven, lined my baking pan with parchment paper, and put the bags in. After the recommended time, I took them out and nothing had happened! NOTHING! Well, fine, I thought the oven temp was too low anyways. I turned it up, put the bags back in, and set the timer. I came back, and they had shrunk! This is one of those "Nailed it!" moments. It *kinda* looked like the pictures, it *kinda* looked like ruined beef jerky.

Not quite what I was hoping for. They were supposed to be cute little key chains. They are so not! Not cute by any stretch of the imagination. Maybe I should mail one to Steve Martin and one to Bill Murray, so they can re-enact that sketch. Hmmm, this might be an idea. Oh well, on to other projects. Becky sold a few of the upcycled grocery bags. I should make a few more, or at least get them halfway done and set them aside for something else.

  1. For the record, I made two bags to replace the ones that were sold and also made a little bag to hold my clothes pins. :)

    Love, Big Bee
